Staying Put

Well, Dr. Martin just came in to speak with us.  He had a lengthy conversation with us yesterday also.  What amazed me, though, was when he came back up about 45 minutes later right before his first surgery.  He said he felt that I had not been able to ask him everything I had wanted to.  So, he stayed up here for another 15 minutes with me making sure I had all my questions answered and letting me know that he will come up often if that’s what is needed to make sure I am comfortable with everything involving Stefan’s care.  In this age of constant rushing, it still amazes me that there is a doctor out there who so genuinely shows us care and concern.

Now, for today’s update.  Stef will not be going home for quite awhile.  The earliest would be late this week or weekend if that.  Dr. Martin wants to make sure, as I do, that we don’t go home just to return a couple days later.  So, while it is getting tiring being here, I know that that is the best thing.  Dr. Martin wants his pain under control and also wants to make sure that we have everything taken care of regarding his G-tube and fistula.  He said this morning that the care will be a lot at home, so he wants to know that I am comfortable with everything.

We did not get the CT done last night that we were supposed to because all of Stef’s pre-meds and contrast leaked out around his G-tube.  Hopefully, we will get that later today.  We’re interested, as is Dr. Martin, in knowing what is causing so much of his pain.

I guess I would ask that you continue to pray for healing.  Also, pray that his pain would decrease so he can be more comfortable.  Thanks so much.

  2. Prayers continue for comfort, strength and healing.

  3. Not only is the age of today rushed but also impersonal, Dr. Martin seems to have true concern for you and Stefan and I can not believe how he’s included his own personal conviction in seeing Stef heal into his talks with you. I am so grateful he is Stef’s doctor, for Stef’s sake and yours Sandi.

I’m praying for you both and love you both so much, you’re doing an incredible job Sandi.

    Love Jen

  4. We are praying for you both, all the time over here! Not a prayer is said by one of the boys that you are not included in. Please let us know when we can come visit, or if there is anything else we can do to help out during this time. Give Stef a hug for us and then hug yourself from us too! We love you guys!

  5. Continued prayers and love from the Ringer’s

  6. Dear Stef and Sandi,
I just wanted to tell you that Bruce and I are praying for the both of you and your entire family. I can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through; and I apologize for not letting you know this sooner, but we have been praying for you through this entire journey.
I want you to know that one memory of Stef keeps coming back to me as I think of you guys and pray for you. It was when Toby was in the PICU and he had to have an MRI. For some reason I just didn’t want to go in that time, and Bruce went in and I was out in the waiting room – really late (after everything was closed). Stef waited with me and helped me to keep my mind off things. Thank you for doing that, Stef – thank you for your kindness. I know there is not much I can say, but I can pray; Keep trusting – He is faithful through all circumstances.
    Sincerely,
    Carrie Holt

  7. Stef & Sandi, We continue to pray for both of you. You are on our minds often. We serve an awesome God who is always faithful if we trust in him. Todd & Marlo

  8. praying for all of you..

  9. Just wanted to share that our family prays for God’s healing and to reveal Himself to you in ways He never has. We pray that you will be Light to your doctor and all the people who care for you, Stef and Sandi. This past Sunday, Molly and I taught our children’s church and began with a special time of prayer for your family. It truly was a blessing to hear 4-6 year old children pray earnestly for someone they have never met. We will continue to do so and pray God will provide healing, courage, comfort, and strength. We love you much,

    The Kings.
