The Day After

Hi, it’s Sandi again…

Just wanted to post a quick update on Stef.  He had a pretty bad night last night due to the incredible pain.  He was not able to sleep until about 6 this morning and only slept until about 7am.  Please pray that he will be able to rest much better tonight.  He was able to sit in a chair today for about 4 1/2 hours and took 2 short walks around the unit.  We found out today that they did find a small tumor in the small intestines that they were able to take out during surgery yesterday.  Please pray that this will not get any worse.  If it really spreads into the small bowel and some would have to be removed, this could affect nutrition.  We were a little surprised by this news as this was the first time we had heard that the cancer was in the small bowel.  Thanks to all of you who read the post last night and continued to pray for us.  Stef still needs many prayers for recovery.  We’ve still got a long road ahead.  Thanks and goodnight.

  11. Sandi and Stef, Continuing to pray for you both. Thanks for the updates on this web site. Sandi, you probably don’t know me but I attend NW Bible and had Stef as the leader on 2nd Sunday greet times. Stef often mentioned you and all that you do to keep the home going. I’m sure it is tough right now but know you are in my prayers.

  12. You don’t know me, but our family has been praying for you and your husband. I am a relative of Karen Matson. Karen keeps us updated and we rejoice with you in the success of the surgery. You and Stef remain in our prayers. Sharon Tighe

  13. Hey Stef & Sandi…

I’m praying for you guys and I’m thrilled with the initial reports after the surgery. I’m praying for the pain that Stef is in and hoping that is getting better. I’m also praying for your children as this has to be difficult on them as well. Just a word of encouragement for today – Romans 8:35-39 (NLT) –

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  14. still praying… and specifically for you, Sandi, today…

  17. Sandi and Stef,
Melody has kept me updated on all that’s been going on in your lives and sent me this
link so I could just let you know our family is praying for you! Reading these responses
from others brought tears to my eyes as I was reminded that only in God’s family and only in HIS Word can this kind of encouragement come! May He continue to give you strength for this part of your journey and peace and trust in His healing hands.
